APRI FAMILY….Please lift our sister, Carol Anderson in prayer!
Carol Anderson Update:
Our beloved sister, Carol Anderson, remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the George Washington University Hospital, several blocks from the White House. She was admitted over the weekend after experiencing rapid swelling and severe distress while trying to breathe. Surgery was performed on her Tuesday to insert a stent to relieve pressure around her heart and ease the swelling. The procedure went well and the swelling has begun to go down.
But Carol still faces another devastating blow to her recovery. Doctors have confirmed an aggressive mass on her chest. Carol has specifically instructed her family and the GW medical staff on how she wants to handle this situation. She will remain at the hospital, at least until the end of this week. Hospice arrangements are pending her discharge from GW.
Those who wish to send cards to Carol should forward them to her cousin, Stewart Bowers, who is coordinating her care.

Obviously, this is painful news for the CBTU and AFSCME families and others in the labor education community, who have loved Carol for so long, learned so much from her and leaned on her strong shoulders so much. Carol is such a fighter! Now we must be her backbone as she battles mightily, with each breath, to flash that infectious smile once again.
As new information becomes available, we will share with everyone via Facebook, email and personal networks. Please keep her in your prayers.
