Darby Township Meeting Has Special Guest

(The Delaware County Daily Times)DARBY TOWNSHIP — Judge Greg Mathis from the
popular “Judge Mathis” television show joined
the Darby Township Board of Commissioners
recent reorganization meeting to swear in new
Commissioner Richard Womack Jr.
Womack
ran unopposed and was elected to the board
along with incumbent Lawrence Patterson in
November. The two were sworn in to office
during the meeting.
Mathis drew a
bigger-than-usual crown to the event. Womack, a
46-year resident of Darby Township, is the
national vice president for A. Philip Randolph
Institute and serves on the National NAACP
Labor Committee.
Also at the meeting,
Patterson was nominated and voted back into the
president’s seat, a position he has held for 29
years. Commissioner James Sandone was named
vice president for his 30th year in this
role.
Michael Pierce of Pierce &
Hughes in Media was re-appointed to solicitor
and Charles Catania of Catania Engineering
Associates Inc., in Folsom, was re-appointed to
township engineer.
Other appointments
included Barry Merlino as treasurer and Paul
Straus as controller.
